United Way

Kids succeed in school when they have books at home and parents who read with them.

Help build home libraries for children in need.

Each month, we distribute books to more than 700 young children (and counting!) along with other important resources to help their families thrive.

We love being part of your families reading journey and providing books to increase your Home Libraries. Currently Book of the Month enrollment is closed due to reaching maximum program capacity and we are only accepting enrollments for our waitlist. Enrollment is first come-first enrolled, up to the sponsored amount. Overage enrollments are added to a waitlist to be added as slots become available. To enroll for a year of books and resources , please visit this page during open enrollment in May.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact United Way of Kern County at (661) 834-1820.

Happy Reading!

Our goal is to serve low to moderate-income families.

Our enrollment is currently closed due to reaching program capacity. If you would like to add your child (0-8 yrs of age) to the waitlist, fill out the form below.
