United Way of Kern County brings people
and organizations together to determine the critical issues standing in
the way of our county being the best it can be. We build partnerships
and invest resources in services and initiatives to tackle those issues.
The result is real, lasting change for our entire community.
Your United Way is a local organization,
governed by a local volunteer board.
All funds raised locally are invested right here in Kern County to
address local issues and needs.
Volunteers – people just like you – make decisions about how
to invest our donors’ dollars to achieve results.
Founded in 1963, UWKC
has evolved over the years from an organization focused primarily on
fund-raising and fund distribution, to an organization dedicated to
achieving lasting change on critical community issues – issues like
preparing children for success in school and in life; homelessness; and
financial stability for working families.
UWKC’s Community Impact Agenda was
developed after more than two years of consultation and conversation
with a diverse cross-section of our community: business, nonprofit
service providers, government, educators, donors, volunteers and members
of the faith community. The result is a new framework for United Way’s
work.
